Face and Neck Surgery at Boston West Hospital
Some of our cosmetic surgery procedures are performed at Fitzwilliam Hospital.
You can meet with your cosmetic surgeon at Boston West Hospital and discuss your cosmetic surgery needs. The surgeries are then performed at our sister hospital, Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough.
Face and Neck
A facelift (rhytidectomy) aims to restore a more youthful and fresher looking facial appearance. Ageing and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, smoking and weight loss can cause lines, wrinkles, and loose skin to appear due to a lack of muscle tone and skin elasticity. This can make you feel self-conscious, especially with selfies being taken and posted and/or if your face has aged prematurely.
A facelift is performed to tighten your facial muscles and skin, smooth out lines and wrinkles and, naturally rejuvenate your face. It can include your jaw or neckline and is often combined with a blepharoplasty or a neck lift.
It’s performed under general anaesthetic and takes three to four hours. Small incisions are made in your hair line so that your facial muscles can be tightened and any loose skin removed.
At Boston West Hospital & Fitzwilliam Hospital we also offer the two-stitch facelift which is a small procedure to freshen your face, in particular the angle of the jaw. It is for people who do not want, or do not need, a mini-face lift. If you feel your jaw line is just a little loose and needs tightening, then this could be the procedure for you.
Eye bag removal
Eye bag removal, also known as blepharoplasty, treats the baggy appearance and deep lines below your eyes and/or loose folds and saggy upper eyelids. It can also improve your vision in some cases.
A blepharoplasty is often chosen by men and women who feel that their eyes make them look older than their years.
The procedure is performed as a day case under general anaesthetic and usually takes one or two hours. An upper blepharoplasty treats drooping upper eyelids and a lower blepharoplasty treats eye bags.
Rhinoplasty is commonly referred to as a nose job or nose reshaping. Its goal is to change the shape and size of your nose to create a nose you are happy and confident with.
Patients may choose to have a rhinoplasty if their nose appears too large or small on their face or if it’s shaped irregularly shape.
A reduction rhinoplasty involves making your nose smaller by removing or modifying your nasal bone and cartilage. An augmentation rhinoplasty makes your nose larger by reshaping current bone or cartilage or using a bone or cartilage graft.
Rhinoplasty usually takes up to three hours and is performed under general anaesthetic.
Trampoline neck lift
Trampoline neck lift is a relatively new cutting edge cosmetic neck surgery alternative to traditional neck lift surgery. It is carried out under local anaesthetic, uses minimal incisions, takes around an hour, has a short recovery time of about a week, and offers low risks.
It involves making a series of pinpricks across your jaw line and weaving a thin surgical thread (or suture) through these tiny holes and tightening up loose skin around your neck and chin.
Your neck area is often one of the first places to show signs of ageing due to sagging skin. A trampoline neck lift aims to offer you a younger and more contoured neckline.
The Fitzwilliam Hospital is one of only a few establishments in the UK able to offer this amazing, ground-breaking new treatment.
